So it’s official Ava DuVernay will not direct Marvel’s Black Panther movie. The Selma told Essence. “I think I’ll just say we had different ideas about what the story would be. Marvel has a certain way of doing things and I think they’re fantastic and a lot of people love what they do. I loved that they reached out to me.”
“I loved meeting Chadwick and writers and all the Marvel execs,” she stated. “In the end, it comes down to story and perspective. And we just didn’t see eye to eye. Better for me to realize that now than cite creative differences later.”
DuVeray isn’t the only person who it sounds like turned down the job. Rick Famuyiwa, director of Dope, was also being considered to direct Black Panther. Marvel has yet to select a director for the film slated for a 2018 release. We are making it official & predicting Reginald Hudlin for the choice. The man has an Oscar nomination & he wrote Black Panther for a few years.
