Woman Crush Wednesday: Becky Hammon

BeckyHammon

As a former female athlete and woman in general, I couldn’t be more proud of Becky Hammon which is why she is this week’s #WCW. The former WNBA standout was the first female to coach an NBA Summer League team. After retiring from her 16 year career in the WNBA, the league’s top player took on another challenge. Last year, Gregg Popovich added Hammon to his staff as the first female full-time assistant coach in league history (surprised that its taken that long). On Monday, she made history again by leading the Spurs Summer League team to a championship title. Hammon led the San Antonio Spurs to a 93-90 victory over the Phoenix Suns in the Los Angeles Summer League. This win has started rumors of Becky’s ability to earn a head coaching job. She’s capable. She knows the game just as well as Tony Parker. I wonder if the Knicks should give her a call… 🙂
